The museum includes three departments:

• Historical department
• Department of flors and fauns
• Aquarium and it inhabitates

The historical department was placed in a building of the former trade case in Novonikolaevsk, constructed in 1910 under the project of the famous Siberian architect A.D. Krychkov. The halls of a museum represent evolution of settling of Siberia in stone century, life of feudal Siberia, history of famine during Great Domestic war.

The department of Flors and Fauns is an oldest museum of Novosibirsk. The expositions of a department of a nature acquaint you with the world mammal, reptile, birds, fishes and insects. One of most valuable exhibits of a museum is the skeleton female of the wool elephant, found in 1939.
